Why Measure Outcomes?

Boys & Girls Clubs are accountable to the youth and communities they serve and their funding sources. The Tool Kit is a practical, research-based resource that Club leaders can integrate as a regular part of their Club operations. Information derived from the Tool Kit’s surveys helps Club professionals and volunteers understand young people’s attitudes and experiences and gauge how Club participation influences their lives.

By having their young people take the Tool Kit surveys, Clubs can quantify young people’s needs and changes in perceptions in key youth development areas. Armed with this type of systematically collected data, Clubs can achieve these goals:

  • Assess the effectiveness of their programming and services
  • Track members’ Club experiences over time
  • Obtain insights for strategic planning
  • Provide funding sources with concrete information about the youth outcomes they are supporting
