Though based on the surveys from the 1998 version of the Tool Kit, the revised surveys for three age groups incorporate:

the results of a comprehensive review of recent youth development research and surveys;
-
an analysis of existing data from Clubs that used the 1998 version of the Tool Kit;
-
suggestions from users of the 1998 versions of the surveys;
-
the results from a November 2003 field-test of the revised surveys with more than 3,000 youth in 12 Club organizations around the country;
-
updated statistical analyses of the results from the field-test sample and anecdotal feedback from youth and Club leaders;
-
the insights of BGCA staff members and outside consultants.
